How
do I join the choir?
We rehearse at the Uniting Church in Hawker Street, Ridleyton, between
7.30 p.m. and 10 p.m. on each Tuesday evening. Come along to a few
rehearsals, join in and sing. Please ring Jane Crowe first so that she
can make sure she has sheet music available for you. After a time you
will have an audition. The audition is held on a Tuesday evening
after normal rehearsal, when most choir members have gone home.
So
I don’t have to sing in front of the choir?
No, just the Director of Music.
Are
there any parking facilities?
Yes, there is ample parking available at the rear of the church.
What
type of music is sung?
Over the years the Choir has sung its way through folk and traditional
songs, traditional and contemporary spirituals, traditional and contemporary
sacred music, oratorio, requiem, musical comedy, popular film music, music
by Australian composers, opera choruses, wedding music, timeless standards,
swing, ragtime as well as Christmas music and carols.
When
and where are performances held?
Our major concerts are usually held on Sunday afternoons, as are PSA's
(Pleasant Sunday Afternoons). However, some evening performances do occur.
See the 2008 programme in Coming Events.
